In the last two to three years, a new pattern emerged in Tollywood wherein some of the big stars began to launch their own banners. Earlier, the film related banners belonged to Daggubati Suresh with Suresh Productions and mega mastermind Allu Aravind with Geetha Arts.
But now, the likes of power star Pawan Kalyan, superstar Mahesh Babu, Nandamuri Kalyanram and even ‘King’ Akkineni Nagarjuna have got their home banners. There is a logic behind this approach. The pre release business happens strongly since it runs on the star power and brand value.
When a film is done with other producer, the liabilities are high. So, when they think it is risk and the external producers show they are interested such projects materialize. Otherwise, if nobody takes movies then the stars make a movie in their banner giving other person’s name as the producer.
