Puri Jagannadh and Kalyan Ram’s ISM movie has opened to mixed reviews but trade pundits reveal that ISM first day collections are the best in Kalyan Ram’s career so far. While all eyes are upon the opening figures, ISM did not a have a proper release in a key city like Vijayawada.
Going into the details, ISM was boycotted by major multiplexes (except Capital Cinemas) in Vijayawada city due to an issue between Multiplexes and distributors regarding the revenue share. Generally Multiplex:Distributor revenue sharing ratio varies between 50:50 to 70:30 with each passing week (for instance, 1st week 50-50, 2nd week 55-45 so on till 70-30 after 4 weeks). While distributors have been demanding to increase their share in the openings, multiplexes are reluctant to do so.
Well trade experts opine that both of them have valid reasons behind their arguments. The same issue earlier popped up in Vizag and multiplexes have agreed to hike the distributor share making it 52.5%. But in Vjy the release was stalled due to a disagreement on the same.
On the other hand, ISM movie is likely to suffer with this issue as the average life span of any movie is jut one week of late. Hope the issue is resolved soon and ISM performs well with positive mouth talk.
