It was already reported that Nearly 5,000 theatres across South Indian states, including 2,000 in Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh are close from today. The main reason behind this strike is because of the heavy charges by the Digital Service Providers. As per the producers and movie maker, DSPs who deliver content straight to theatres via satellite for digital projection, charge rates that are too high.

These Digital Service Providers Qube and UFO are allegedly charging around Rs 22,500 per screen for digital projection. Which has become very burdensome for the theater owners, producers, and distributors/ So, the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries have come forward to call for a strike until the digital service providers take a decision in their favor.

In this frame of context, 2,000 theatres in Andhra Pradesh entered MoU with Qube and UFO are to stay closed. One of the main sources of entertainment to the common people is cinema. If this is the case, people will have to find an alternative. The theaters are closed and there are no movies releasing. A huge loss to the movie makers, theater owners, producers, and distributors.
