Life was quite different when Andhra Pradesh was one state and there was this sense of harmony and togetherness which prevailed across all the industries. Cinema is one stream which had brought all under one roof and hence any event related to that was always met with a lot of interest and excitement.

The Nandi awards were one such event and post bifurcation, just like Nandi Awards, many in the state of Telangana expected something similar. A talk was that the Telangana government will name it as ‘Simha’ awards but till now nothing has happened. Every now and then, the ruling government has shown its support to the film circuit.

But having said that, it is also true that not many initiatives were undertaken to do something big and visible. While discussions are making rounds the big question remains, will the ‘Simha’ awards ever happen. Rationally speaking, the awards should happen and it is only a matter of time before the official announcement comes so hoping for the best.
