The Akkineni scion, Naga Chaitanya, has not delivered a big hit in the recent past. His last film that achieved a box-office success is 'Premam'. If the current speculations are true, Chay has been approached for the remake of a Bollywood film 'Bareilly Ki Barfi', a 2017 romantic comedy featuring Ayushmann Khurana, Raj Kumar Rao and Kriti Sanon.

Written by Nitesh Tiwari and Shreyas Jain, the film was directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. At the box-office, Bareilly Ki Barfi has opened to a positive response from critics and did a great business. For the year 2017, the original version received several awards and got nominated for multiple categories.

Noted writer and producer Kona Venkat will be bankrolling this project. While the makers have reportedly roped in Naga Chaitanya for one of the roles, they're yet to finalize on another lead cast. If the makers follow the story structure of the original film, Chay will more than likely be reprising the role of Ayushmann Khurana. In the meanwhile, Chaitanya will come up 'Majili' which stars his wife Samantha as the leading lady.

For those unfamiliar with Bareilly Ki Barfi, its story is about a young girl who leaves her house to escape the marriage planned by her parents. As per the plan, she boards a train and finds the book 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' on a platform. After reading the book, the actress decides to meet the writer of that book.
