Watch Out For These Biopics This Year

This year is definitely a year of biopics. Thought last year also, we have seen a good number of biopics in pan-India languages, this time, the south cinema itself is going to have a blast with biopics this time.


Kathanayakudu- Mahanayakudu

We all know that the biopic of NTR is being made in two parts, as a franchise. While the first one is Kathanayakudu, the second one is Mahanayakudu. While the first one is releasing on January 9, the second one is releasing on February 7.


Yatra

This film is a biopic of late politician YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Though this film doesn’t show everything about his life, it is going to attract people with the incident called padayatra. It is going to release on February 8.


Manikarnika

This film is based on history and is all about the life of Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmi Bai. Kangana Ranaut is playing the title role in the film and the story for the film is written by Vijayendra Prasad, father of Rajamouli.


Mariyappan

Mariyappan Thangavelu is the Indian Paralympic high jumper. Dhanush, the Tamil actor, is playing the lead role in the film and Dhanush’s wife Aishwarya Dhanush is directing the film. This film might hit the screens in summer.


Sye Ra

This is the life of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, one of the first freedom fighters of the country, as well as from the State. This film is being directed by Surender Reddy and is being produced by Ram Charan Tej and is expected to be released later this year.


Thirunal Marthanda Varma: The King of Travancore

This film has Rana Daggubati in the lead role. While it is a historical film being made in Malayalam, it will be dubbed in other languages too. This film will mark Rana’s debut in Malayalam.


Sukumaran Kuruppu

Star actor Dulquer Salman is playing the role of Kerala’s most wanted criminal Sukumara Kuruppu. Srinath Rajendran is directing the film which will be released at the end of the year.
