The remake of the ’96 is confirmed already in Telugu and was recently announced by Dil Raju’s banner recently. The film will have Samantha and Sharwanand in the lead roles. The Tamil film has Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead roles.

Well, the latest news is something that is going to shock most of us. The school episodes which have played the most important role in Tamil ’96 are completely going to be cut in the Telugu remake. Yes. What you are reading is very true. So the change in the story here is that Samantha and Sharwanand are going to be college mates, in the batch and for the academic year 2009 and they will meet in a reunion in 2019. So the span which was for 22 years in Tamil film will be cut down to 10 years in the Telugu remake. This means there is going to be title change too.

In the original version, the screenplay keeps going back and forth to the present and the past. In fact, the flashback and their childhood episodes, especially the ones in school are what which triggers to the love in between them. So if the storyline gets a change, the title will also change.
