In the season of biopics, we saw films like Yatra, NTR, Mahanati, Sanju and more. Now, one more biographical film is lined up for 2019. Having emerged as strongest leaders from South, former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa left a huge mark in politics. The politics in Tamil Nadu took several turns after her death in 2016.

Last year, Kollywood filmmaker Priyadarshini announced a biopic on Amma with a title 'Iron Lady'. The film featuring Nithya Menon and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as Jayalalithaa and Sasikala respectively get a release date now. The makers have announced that the film will hit screens on 20th February 2020 and it will release in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. The principal shoot of 'Iron Lady' is currently progressing in Chennai.

On 71st birthday of Jayalalithaa, director Vijay has announced another biopic on former CM of Tamil Nadu and claimed it as an 'official' one. Baahubali and Manikarnika writer Vijayendra Prasad is going to pen the script for Vijay's film which is titled as 'Thalaivi'.
