Visionary filmmaker Gunasekhar is currently busy with the works of his new film Shaakuntalam. From the last few days, there were many rumours about the cast and crew of the movie. However, the team has put an end to all these rumours by giving an official statement. The makers of Shaakuntalam said that the casting process is still going on and no one has been finalized yet.

The statement read, "We’d like to clarify that the casting process for the other characters in the film #Shaakuntalam is still going on. Request our friends in the media to not speculate on any particular names at this juncture. Thank you for your support." The only character who got confirmed is Samantha Akkineni, who is playing the role of Shakuntala. More details about the rest of the cast are expected to be out soon.

Mani Sharma is composing the music of Shaakuntalam. It is being produced by Gunasekhar and Neelima Guna.
