The government has recently released a Code Of Ethics and self-regulation mechanism for video streaming services which are popularly known as the over-the-top OTT platforms. The government has tightened its grip over the OTT content. On this note, actor turned politician Vijayashanthi is all praises about this decision.

"I heartily welcome the new rules and regulations imposed by the central government to control the content on social media and OTT platforms which are moving forward without any proper policies. Under the name of the right to speak, the hate speeches got proliferated in recent times because of which so many individuals and their families are suffering. Because of the writing freedom on social media, the existence of the system got endangered and also became an obstacle for National Unity. Also, the number of idiots who harass women on digital platforms also got increased," wrote Vijay Shanthi on her official Twitter account.

"I have expressed my concerns about this issue so many times. I strongly believe that these measures taken by the government to control the OTT content will be beneficial for all the sectors," added Vijayashanthi.
