Film stars succeeding in politics is no more a trend in South India. Many film celebrities went on to become the Chief Ministers in the past. MGR, Karunanidhi, and Jayalalitha are the Tamil film celebrities who went on to rule Tamil Nadu. The same was the case with NT Rama Rao in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He worked as the Chief Minister twice in his political career. However, the times have changed now and people have changed as well.

They are not showing interest in film stars as they used to do in the past. Thus, many actors who are venturing into politics are failing to do well. The prime example of this failure is Megastar Chiranjeevi who entered into politics in 2008. But he lost badly in the 2009 elections. After being in the political arena for about nine years, Chiru has finally quit politics and came back into films. Later, his younger brother Pawan Kalyan formed Jana Sena and contested in the 2019 assembly elections. He faced a humiliating defeat as his party won only one seat in the AP General elections.

Now, Kamal Haasan faced a similar fate in the recently held Tamil Nadu state elections. Both heroes lost their own seats and also failed to make their party win. Though their intentions are good, there are no chances of actors doing well in politics as of now. People are not going with emotions and are only valuing money in every election. Thus, all political leaders are buying voters and winning the polls. Society has become corrupt and having noble ideas will not help anyone who wants to enter politics. That is the reason why the likes of Pawan and Kamal are failing to do well in the political arena.
