OTT platforms have become the major source of entertainment for people across the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. Especially in India, the streaming platforms witnessed a huge spike in subscriptions during 2020 when the pandemic has started.

The situation remained the same in 2021 as well, in our country, because of the second wave of the coronavirus. Thus, many of the people stuck to their homes most of the time and enjoyed watching movies and shows on OTT platforms.

According to the latest reports, Disney+ Hotstar continues to be the most-subscribed OTT platform in India. As of December 2021, this streaming platform has more than 46 million subscribers across the country right now.

No other streaming site has at least half of the subscriptions of Hotstar. Amazon Prime Video stood in the second position with 19 million subscribers.

The world's streaming giant Netflix still struggles to increase its user base in India. As a result, it has managed to get only 5 million subscribers till now.

Apart from these biggies, there are other platforms like Sony Liv, Zee5, Aha, Voot and Mubi, which are trying to increase their subscribers by coming up with varied content and lucrative pricing models.
