While the entire Tollywood is hoping for SS Rajamouli’s RRR to be India’s official entry at the 95th Academy Awards, it has now been announced that Gujarati film Chhello Show (Last Film Show) is India's official Oscars entry and not RRR.
Netizens along with film critics were upset with this decision from the prestigious award ceremony and are pouring comments in social media expressing their dissatisfaction. While many called the decision "ridiculous", even the film critic Sumit Kadel tweeted that with Chhello Show as India's official entry, there is "zero chance of getting nominated, forget about winning".
However, there might still be a chance for the film to get nominated for the prestigious award. Though the Indian government ignored it, Variance Films, which distributed RRR in the USA, is said to be trying hard to submit the film to the Oscars in several categories.
Reportedly, US distribution company is submitting RRR for Best Picture, Best Actor (Ram Charan and Jr NTR), Best Director, Original Song (Naatu Naatu), Original Score, Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt), Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn) and Original Screenplay (Vijayendra Prasad) categories.
It is also heard that Variance Films is requesting the members a lot to vote for the film in various categories. So, we need to wait and see to know whether the members will love it like the rest of the Westerns or not and whether RRR will make it to the Oscars.
