Veteran director Sagar passes away

Days after the demise of senior actress Jamuna, the Telugu film industry had to witness another huge loss. Popular veteran director Sagar, who made many hit films, passed away this morning in Chennai. He was 70. He breathed his last in a private hospital at around 05:30 AM this morning.

 

Vidya Sagar Reddy, popularly known as Sagar, was born in 1952. With immense love towards films, he decided to enter the cinema industry. He started off his career as an assistant director. In 1983, Sagar made his debut as a director with the film Rakasi Loya.

 

It was the 1991 release Stuvartpuram Dongalu which brought Sagar huge acclaim. This film also won three Nandi Awards. In a career spanning over four decades, Sagar made more than 30 films. His last directorial venture was the 2002 film Khaidi Brothers.

 

Sagar also served as the president of the Telugu Film Directors Association three times. Various film celebrities and fans expressed their condolences to Sagar's family. His final rites will be held in Chennai this evening. His demise will be a huge loss for the Telugu film industry.
