A whiff of fresh air to Telugu cinema. Do check it out!

Plot:

Vikramaditya is a billionaire suffering from quadriplegia and much to the astonishment of his secretary Keerthi (Tamannaah), friend Prasad (Prakash) and team, Vikram appoints Seenu (Karthi), a gutsy devil-may-care jobless jack as his caretaker. In spite of being rich, Vikram misses his life and although full of life, Seenu misses his family that abandoned him. How did these opposite poles bond and complement each other forms the rest of the plot.

Performances:

King Nagarjuna: From Bangarraju to Vikramaditya (a quadriplegic billionaire), Nag shines in this paradigm transformation like no one does. Respect for him as an actor and a star doubles – No wonder he is the right role model for the younger lot.

Karthi: He is the biggest asset for the film. It isn’t exaggeration but you’ll simply love him in the film. After watching the film, you simply can’t think of any other actor – and that's Karthi’s magic!

Tamannaah: Even her character blends into the film so flawlessly and Tamannaah shines. Nonetheless to say she was an eye-candy

Prakash Raj: He plays yet another key role in the plot and we need not describe what sort of a performer he is – giving exactly what the script needs. His scenes with Karthi are hilarious.

Urvashi: It is a delight to watch her back on the Telugu celluloid after a while! We miss her.

The rest of the cast including Jayasudha, Thanikella  Bharani, Praveen, Ali & others did their best. You have three other surprises in the film! (Check out for yourselves)

Analysis:

Firstly thanking PVP & a star hero like Nag for attempting a film like this. This film is a pleasant surprise for many who wonder if our filmmakers could ever get a remake right (especially remakes/or even lifts as a matter of fact).

It was in fact a smart precautionary move from PVP cinema to project the characters of the film right from the first look setting the expectations right for us.

It isn’t the usual tale of a protagonist, antagonist, heroine and the drama around them. Unlike conventional dramas, Oopiri is a garland of scenes blended with heart-touching emotions, moments of joy, laughter and celebration of life.

Right from frame 1, you see characters alone and everyone (Nag, Karthi, Tamannaah & others) get the job right for the film. The rest was so effortlessly done by the narration beautifully blended with the other crafts (of filmmaking).

Ask us what can we enjoy in the film, we would say the entire film but Karthi, Prakash Raj, Ali were hilarious, Karthi-Tamannaah love story was cute and entertaining and Nag & Karthi were indeed the heart of the film. The narration takes the front seat and leads the emotional roller coaster so efficiently.

Yes the duration of the film is a concern especially the second half takes its time to conclude things and much awaited drama doesn’t peep in and the usually commercial entertaining elements don't interfere much. However the film that started on a feel good note will end on the same note.

The script is rightly aided by top notch cinematography, score, production design and as a result, the film works for us.

Merits:

- Story and narration
- Performances of Nag, Karthi, Tamannaah, Jayasudha, Prakash Raj
- Dialogues by Abburi Ravi
- Cinematography
- Editing
- Music and Background score

De-merits:

- Nothing significant.

Music:

Gopi Sunder’s Oopiri album was a chartbuster and the way the songs blend in the narration was absolutely endearing. The background score that plays a vital role in turning the film adorable deserves a special mention.

Others:

Production values of PVP are impressive – speaks for their confidence in the script. You might have seen Paris but if you haven’t yet, you will surely think about it (and that’s the Oopiri effect)

Verdict:

Oopiri is a whiff of fresh air for Telugu audience who are usually bombarded with run-of-the-mill commercial entertainers. You can happily go with your friends and family and get some fresh breeze. An unconventional feel good family entertainer for this summer.
