Tagline: Beware of this Thriller else KICHAAK!!!

Plot:

Chitra (Anjali) is an assistant professor residing in a hostel researching about paranormal activities. But strangely Chitra acts as if she is possessed lesbian which leaves her near and dear in panic. Psychiatrist Shanmukha Neelakanta (Jaya Prakash) dealing Chitra’s case tries to prove she is a maniac turning down her haunting dream a mere hallucination. However, challenging the doctor and all her naysayers about her dream, the murder in it, Chitra flies to US. What happened to Chitra in US and how did she chase her dream and the death mystery in it forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Anjali: Perhaps the talented actress was carried away by something more than content merit. Though she tried to did justice to the role offered blindly following her director, this can be the most messed up film in her career.

The rest of the cast including Jaya Prakash, Raja Ravindra, Sindhutulani etc are confined to namesake performances in this mindless drama.

Even Saptagiri’s comedy can not offer you the much needed relief.

Analysis:

There is an interesting concept in this film, but the way it was presented fails to impress the audiences. At times, we feel that the film is more or less like a short film. Sometimes, it appears as an extended movie too. The boredom repeatedly occurs as there is no other scope to bring into the screenplay except for the concept that was to be executed.

The film completely concentrates on the point selected which is a good thing, but at the same time, it's like revealing the glam quotient of Anjali where few camera angles irritate us. The story was not properly baked, and so is the screenplay. The poor writing is a major disappointment for the film. Ashok threw promise with his plotline at the beginning of the movie, but by the time the film comes to an end, we hardly find any good moments. The duration of 144 minutes tests our patience to the core.

Bal Reddy is the cinematographer of the movie. The director of photography has tried to give his best for the film. The director and DOP are successful in maintaining the mood and flow of the film correctly. The editing by Prawin Pudi could have been crisper. The crispy editing would have made the film more appealing. The music scored by Selva Ganesh is good. The audio album of the movie failed to impress. The songs in the first half of the film don't fit with the flow. The BGM of the film is decent, though. The artwork is impressive.

Ashok has dealt some family subjects in the past, but the trailer revealed that he could touch other issues too. The film falls flat in the first half and never appears to be in a proper flow. The last fifteen minutes of the film and the flashback episodes are the only saving grace for the film. Except for that, the film is completely a big let down with such a tremendous performer like Anjali playing the title role. On the whole, the movie has few good moments here and there, but it's not worth the price we pay for the ticket.

Merits:

- Anjali Performance
- BGM
- Cinematography

Demerits:

- Story
- Screenplay

Music:

Selva-Swamy’s music and re-recording are the most mediocre aspects of this confused film.

Others:

Nothing to mention.

Verdict:

Chitrangadha is the most confused and amateurish suspense thriller that can kill you with boredom. Better skip this film, else KICHAAK!!!
