Why Is It Safe To Make Small Budget Films?

Week after a week, we get to see a new set of films- both big budget and small budget ones. But, last few weeks have been dominated by low budget movies - Falaknuma Das to Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya. Particularly, when we look at last week releases- Mallesham, Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, and First Rank Raju. All of them are performing good at the box-office and also gained a thumbs up from reviewers. By the end of the first weekend, the films are said to have yielded break even for the makers.

When it comes to a star-hero film, the makers should spend hugely on everything that goes into filmmaking and bringing it to theatres. Even after well planning and spending, these films are not keeping the producers safe. But, the content has become the passport for small films to emerge victoriously. Be it Priyadarshi's Mallesham or First Rank Raju or Agent Sai Srinivasa Atreya, these films won the heart of audiences with great and attractive content. So, the formula is simple- in order to make an appealing movie, get the script right and ensure to bring in a good buzz ahead of the release.

This week, we have another set of content-driven films - Brochevarevarura, Kalki and Burra Katha. The new-age filmmakers, who realized what to serve audiences, are investing a large amount of filmmaking time on pre-production and once you have a bound script which can grab viewers' attention, rest of it doesn't require a bothering. So, audiences are slowly getting over the old tendency and began to receive all kinds of cinema.
