ANR Lives On: Remembering The Legendary Actor On His Birth Anniversary

Akkineni Nageshwara Rao was undoubtedly one of the legendary actors ever born in our country. Fondly called as ANR, this prolific actor worked for more than 240 films in the career spanning over seven decades. Today marks the 97th birth anniversary of this 'Dasara Bullodu.'
 
 
Born in a middle-class family of Krishna district's Ramapuram area, he was the youngest of his five brothers. ANR started his acting career as a theatre artist and took baby steps towards his film career. His maiden film was 1941's Dharma Patni. His major breakthrough film was Devadasu which was released in 1955.
 
 
Since then, ANR has become a go-to artist for romantic films. The actor didn't stick to a particular genre and went on to do versatile characters in his seventy-year-old career. ANR was also the founder of the popular production house, Annapurna Studios. Many of his family members are now excelling as actors in the industry. They need no introduction.
