We Miss You SPB

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam aka SP Balasubramanyam is one of the multi-talented artists. As a singer, music director, actor, dubbing artist, and movie producer, SPB has impressed the audience with all his skills. As a playback singer, SP Balasubramanyam recorded his first song on 15th December 1966 for 'Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna' movie. His mentor SP Kodandapani is the music director of the film.

 

Including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi languages, Balu has sung more than 40000 songs in 16 different languages. He also has an impeccable record of singing 56 songs in a single day on February 8th, 1981 from 9 AM to 9 PM. Balu recorded 21 Kannada songs, 19 Tamil songs, and 16 Hindi songs.

 

The 1980 released Shankarabharanam movie became another milestone in Balu's career. He received his first national award for this film directed by K Viswanath and music composed by KV Mahadevan. In the following year, his 'Ek Duje Ke Liye' songs became chartbusters and Balu again received another National award. He crooned for star heroes at that time like MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, etc. His friendship with the music Maestro Ilayaraja started before his entry into the film industry as they both used to do concerts together.

 

SP Balasubramanyam received national awards for 4 different languages and 6 national awards as a playback singer. He sang a massive number of chartbuster songs and bagged so many awards. The Indian government awarded him Padmashree in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2011.

 

SP Balasubramanyam breathed his last today afternoon and the fans all over the world are grieving his death. We miss you SPB.
