Salman delivers record openings on digital box office as well

Bollywood's Bhai Salman Khan is known for delivering the biggest openings at the box office. This time he repeated the same feat but in a different format. It is already known that Salman's recent flick Radhe opted for a simultaneous theatrical and digital release. The film was released on May 13th and received tremendous response on its streaming platform Zee Plex. According to the reports, Radhe gained around 4.2 million views on Zee Plex within 24 hours of its release.

The film was released on a pay-per-view model. Viewers need to pay Rs. 249 to watch the film once. With this feat, it has become the most-watched Indian film on an OTT platform within 24 hours of its release. Akshay Kumar's Laxmii stands in the second position with 3.7 million streams. It was available for Disney+Hotstar's VIP and premium members. Sushant Singh Rajput's last film Dil Bechara stands in the third position with 2.3 million views. It was available for free on Disney+Hotstar.

Radhe was supposed to hit the screens last year but the makers kept postponing it due to the ongoing pandemic. Finally, they opted for a digital release and it turned out to be a good decision. We have to see if any other big films follow the same route after witnessing Radhe's success.
