The meaning of Grace and Individuality were redefined in Telugu Cinema - Thanks to an actress like 'Sowcar' Janaki. She made her presence felt in every film she acted- no matter what the length of her role would be. Her unique dialogue delivery, facial expressions, grace and acting skills enthralled Telugu Cinema for years together.
Janaki transformed to 'Sowcar' Janaki with her fantastic debut performance in the film Sowcar (1950) starring Sr.NTR. Her innocent looks and purity of expression for the role of a village belle 'Subbulu' earned her countless accolades. Even since a young age, she carried a unique aura and maturity through her performance and phenomenal acting skills. This same innocent village belle was seen as an arrogant wife of a doctor in Dr.Chakravarthy (1964) opposite ANR. She understood the characterization so well that even her mannerisms in every frame reflect not the actress but the character she adorned. Nobody can forget Sowcar Janaki’s mannerisms of adjusting the watch when Savitri sings “Paadamani nannadaga thaguna...” which define her characterization so perfectly.
Sowcar Janaki continued her acting tenure and made her presence felt in Tamil and Kannada Cinema as well. She once again entertained the audience with her performance of a timid servant 'Chukka' in Samsaram Oka Chadarangam (1987). She also excelled in small screen by acting in some memorable serials during the 90s.
iQlikmovies wishes the unique actress with grace and poise- Sowcar Janaki a very happy 82nd Birthday!
