Attack on Comedian Jabardast Venu

Creative people often take the liberty to comment or respond on real life incidents through their art. There were many artists who commented or responded on many sensitive issues and still got away with it. Usually it happens with some controversial films and directors. But for the very first time in the recent past, an artist (comedian) suffered a physically attacked for his act.
Talented comedian Venu’s recent act in Jabardasth comedy show (second week of December) has reportedly hurt the sentiments of a community. The corresponding community people have physically attacked Venu in Film Nagar (Hyderabad), in a much surprising stint where Venu survived with minor injuries. However, Venu has immediately offered his sincere apologies to the community.
The film fraternity has strongly condemned this physical attack. Naga Babu, Dhanraj, Jabardast Team, Movie Artists Association, Brahmaji, Sampoornesh Babu, Manchu Manoj and others have come to the support of Venu but many did not respond on the issue. Even this has stirred yet another controversy and triggered many discussions.
While some support these acts calling them a “strong lesson” to the overboard comedy on the show, some describe these acts as non-democratic and sheer cowardly stints. There is a judicial system to address issues of this sort but an actor being physically attacked because of a fictitious skit is something that raise many eyebrows.
Well, Venu’s incident was a serious Controversial Moment towards the end of 2014.
