The first person to be involved in a film, who drives the whole team from inception to completion is obviously the producer. It requires a great skill set. Not everybody in the industry can become successful producers. Even if one film works out well, there’s no guarantee about the fate of the next film. There are many cases of utter failures who lost quite a sum of money. IQlik Movies brings to you one such incident that happened to the legendary singer Ghantasala.

When Ghantasala was in full swing in his career, when he was well settled in life, he developed a slight curiosity in the craft of production. He soon ventured into producing films and invested a lot of money with his brother Sadasivudu as the acting producer. Paropakaram (1953), Sontha Uru (1956), Bhaktha Raghunath (1960) were the films Ghantasala invested in and due to various reasons all the three films failed miserably at the box office. When someone asked about this, Ghantasala cracked a self-reference joke, “Naa modati cinema Paropakaram valla itharulaku upakaram jarigipoyindi babu! (The first film that I made Paropakaram definitely helped others but me!) Rendo chitram Sontha Uru, na sontha uru ki vellipomandi. (The second film Sontha Uru told me to leave for my native village) Moodo Chitram Bhaktha Raghunath bhajana cheskuni bathakamandi”.

Well, even the third film couldn’t bring any luck to the great singer of all time.
