Kandireega story at a glance

Seenu (Ram) is a school drop-out. He shifts to Hyderabad from Anakapally to complete his degree in a college. He falls in love with Sruthi (Hansika Motwani) who happens to be his college mate. The city gangster Bhavani (Sonu Sood) also falls in love with her and forces her to marry him. Meanwhile a rich landlord of Warangal Rajanna’s men kidnap Seenu as he saves his daughter Sandhya’s (Aksha) life from his rivals. Bhavani comes to Rajanna and takes away Sruthi. The rest of the story is how Seenu rescues Sruthi from the clutches of Rajanna and Bhavani and what happens to Sandhya.

    The film garnered good talk and went on to become a decent hit. The film was made with a budget of 14 crores and grossed about 55 crores and a total share of 30 crores. Overall the movie is a big hit in Ram’s career.

  • Highlights

    • Colors Swathi featured hero’s introduction song in this film.
    • This is director Santosh Srinivas debut movie in Tollywood. He announced the sequel project too with Ram but the film got shelved due to unknown reasons.
    • Ram paired with Hansika for the second time in this film. first movie of both actors was Maska.
  • Sidelights

    • This film was supposed to be directed by Creative director Krishna Vamsi with Ravi Teja, Sameera Reddy and Tamannah in the lead roles. But somehow this project had an entire shift of cast and crew.
    • Chakri was initially roped in to provide music for this film but later the director opted for Thaman.
    • Initially Kajal Agarwal sister Nisha was supposed to play the female lead. But at last minute the Hansika bagged the opportunity.
    • The film shooting got delayed by 2 months (Dec – 2009 to Jan – 2010) as rift occurred between Tamil and Telugu Industries stunt choreographers.
