Varudu story at a glance
Sandeep (Allu Arjun) is a modern guy with old fashioned heart. He wishes to have an arranged marriage and his parents (Ashish Vidyarthi and Suhasini) find a suitable girl for him. He also decides to have the traditional five day marriage like in the olden days and also not to see her till the 'Jeelakarra Bellam' [a custom part of the Hindu marriage ceremony] happens. He sees the bride Deepthi (Bhanusree Mehra) during Jeelakarra Bellam and just when the knot is to be tied, Deepthi gets kidnapped. Who kidnaps her and why do they do that forms the rest of the story?

Gunasekhar was in a bad phase and he transfers his bad luck on to Allu Arjun too. The makers have not shown the lead lady in the promotional material before the release and after the release, that promotion fell flat. It was nothing short of a disaster at box office. -

Allu Arjun had to face the ire of pro-T agitators during this film shoot. An angry mob rammed their way into the shooting spot at Anazpur and Hayathnagar and damaging the shooting equipment there.

The crucial marriage episode of the movie was shot in a special set constructed in Indore. Nature and fields were partially shot and partially a graphic work but it’s the sheer graphic brilliance that one would not recognize the difference.

The title Varudu was first considered for Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja. But it was finally Allu Arjun who owned it.

The film was dubbed into Malayalam as Varan and into Hindi as Ek aur Rakshak. The film failed commercially in both the versions.
