Kodama Simham story at a glance

It was Superstar Krishna who took the daring initiative first to make Cowboy themed films in Telugu. After that many such films came into picture from the same actor but there was no other hero who could venture out such challenging theme. Chiranjeevi was one hero who took the daring step of acting in a Cowboy film and that is none other than Kodama Simham. The film was well equipped with everything a cowboy film needs- stunts, décor, costumes, action sequences, horse riding- along with what a Commercial Telugu Film needs: Songs, dances, Sentiment!

Story Details:
Bharath (Chiranjeevi) is a fearless Cowboy who wanders all over the place. He happens to love a girl (Sonam) , daughter of a Mayor (Pran), and he plans to find out the whereabouts of his parents. It is when he discovers his father  Dharmanna Dora (Satyanarayana) who becomes a head of tribal village where Bijili (Radha) resides. His mother (Annapurna) is jailed and Bharath’s father is imposed on a crime of stealing the prestigious Peacock Throne. Bharath comes to know about the villains behind this through a funny villain Sudi Gaali (Mohan Babu) and the rest of the story is about the adventure and action which takes place.

Performances:
Chiranjeevi is stylish and convincing as the desi Cowboy- likeable to Telugu Audience along with carrying the original Cowboy image of Hollywood. He is extremely good in dancing sequences and the way he carried the new getup. Sonam and Radha have little to perform in the acting department but they are good in the songs. Pran is very good as the evil person and Satyanarayana, Annapurna are adequate as the hero’s parents. Mohan Babu steals the show as the funny villain Sudi Gaali and his scenes involving Chiranjeevi are entertaining.

Technical Aspects:
Cinematography by K.S.Hari is a major asset for the film- he managed to get the locations of Cowboy films appropriately for the Indian Background. The film is high on production values and many songs were shot in good locations of Rajasthan Palaces. Dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers are good and add value to the film. Direction by Murali Mohana Rao is fresh and good in every frame. Music by Raj-Koti is another asset and the duo made wonders in the re-recording department as well.
