Aditya 369 story at a glance

Aditya 369 is the only science fiction film in Tollywood and one of its kind in Indian Cinema, directed by the versatile Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. The film was high in every standard – with Jandhyala in writing, Music by Ilaiyaraaja, Production by S.P.B, and great star cast including Balakrishna, Tinu Anand, and Amrish Puri in the lead roles.

Story Details:
The film begins with Prof. Ramdas( Tinu Anand) an absent minded professor conducting experiments to invent a Time Machine. Meanwhile Raja Varma (Amrish Puri) is an evil person who is obsessed with collecting antique items all over the world by force. He bestows the responsibility of stealing a diamond from Krishnadevaraya Empire era which is intact in a Museum of current day. When the theft happens, Kishore (Tarun) witnesses the crime. The goons chase him and it is when Krishna Kumar (Balakrishna) rescues Kishore. Krishna Kumar incidentally loves Hema (Mohini) the daughter of Prof. Ramdas. Kishore constantly talks about the theft he witnessed but nobody including Krishna Kumar take him seriously because the theft is done cleverly by replacing a fake diamond in the museum. Prof. Ramdas as a funny habit of showing his Time Machine to everybody who arrives at his house and he does the same to Krishna Kumar and Kishore.  Things go on happier vein when Krishna Kumar and Hema’s wedding gets fixed and it is when Kishore along with his kid friends try to operate the Time Machine, thereby getting stuck in it. Krishna Kumar and Hema rescue all the kids in the time machine and they get into it accidentally. Along with them, a constable (Sutthi Velu) also gets there in dramatic circumstances and the trio land in Krishnadevaraya Empire.  Rest of the film is about the adventures they face and how it would be if the time machine travels to future as well!

Performances:
Balakrishna is excellent as the hero as well as Emperor Krishnadevaraya in the film. His energetic performance is quite evident in emotional scenes as well as stunts. He even reminded of his father Sr. NTR in Krishnadevaraya Attire. Newcomer Mohini is wonderful as the love interest of the hero and she even gets to perform a classical dance number in the film. Tinu Anand is brilliant as the absent minded scientist and it was SPB who dubbed for him giving the native touch. Amrish Puri is at his vicious best as the villain. Tarun steals the show as the curious kid and he earned a great name for his performance.  Silk Smitha gets a memorable role as the dancer in Krishnadevaraya’s Court. Sutthi Velu, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Annapurna, Babu Mohan, Chandramohan , Brahmanandam , Subhalekha Sudhakar are well suited in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects:
Dialogues for the film were written by Jandhyala- the ace personality in writing witty lines. He made sure the dialect suits for all time zones and it is not easy to write for a film of this sort. Music by Maestro Ilaiayaraaja elevates the film in every key scene with out of the world background score.’Jaanavule’ became an evergreen hit. Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s direction is crystal clear and worth mentioning.
