Suvarna Sundari 1957 story at a glance
Suvarna Sundari is a roller coaster ride with phenomenal music, dances, battles, curses, disguises, incidents between divine and terrestrial worlds, ANR and Anjali Devi’s glamour for a duration of three hours.This is the first film which featured ANR in the Hindi remake of it. He dubbed his own dialogues in Hindi as well.
Story Details:
This is a Folklore story of a Gandharva kanya loving a human. Jayanth (ANR) gets ousted from the kingdom. He meets Suvarna Sundari (Anjali Devi) who comes to earth on every Kaarteeka Pournami day. They love each other. Lord Indra comes to know about their love and curses Suvarna Sundari. As a result Jayanth forgets her. She loses her child near the river. After a lot of twists, turns and hardships in the story the eternal lovers come together in the end.
Technical Aspects:
Music is the main backbone of the film. Songs like ‘Haayi Haayiga’ , ‘Piluvakumaa’, ‘Jagadeeshwara Pahi Parameshwara’ broke new records in the industry. This folklore film has great storytelling and brilliant direction as well. The art direction is of top notch.
