Whenever a film is gearing up for release, it begins its first wave of promotions through the audio release function. Apparently, every filmmaker believes that it is the songs which set the right precedence for the people to get attracted to the film. In lieu of that, the audio release functions are held grandly.
But now, a big question has popped up- Is audio release really a promotion event? The answer is, for big star movies it is okay but for small budget movies, it is just to make its presence felt. For that matter, even FM radio channels are also playing only big star flicks songs and not the small budget ones.
As a result, many small time producers are thinking instead of audio function, just hold a press meet and do direct release of the songs into the market. Having an audio function is not garnering much promotion value. Even if live coverage is given unless it has controversy mileage is not coming. It has become imperative that some masala should be there. Given these factors, the trend is slowly changing towards audio functions.
