As it is, there is a strong perception and belief that the film industry is a male dominated bastion. In that, the segment of direction is definitely filled with more than 95% of males. The presence of females is slowly increasing but it would take a while.
So, whenever a lady director wields the megaphone there is a lot of attention given to it. Something like that happened when it was announced that the gracious senior actress Revathy was to direct a film. This was to be produced by Puri Jagannadh.
However, the latest update is that Revathi has backed out of the project and her place is going to be taken by one of Puri’s protégés. While no official confirmation is received, some are already trying to find out why this happened. The hero of this movie is Raj Tharun.
