There are many reasons why we as Telugus must feel proud but having said that, it is also true that we do not take much initiative to preserve its pride and identity. Cinema is a powerful medium and Tollywood industry also lacks that form of approach.
You can see how the neighbouring Kollywood works towards its Tamil language and the amount of importance they give to it. Coming back to Tollywood, this is one industry which is a green pasture for actors and actresses of other languages. No wonder that the heroine segment is dominated by non local beauties.
Even the case of titles is not that encouraging. Most of the dubbed or remade movies come with their original titles instead of a Telugu one. The latest we saw Premam kept as Premam only. Earlier Vikram’s I came as I and years ago, Muthu came as Muthu. Well, we will keep other language titles as ours but not our own.
