A 2hr long Run sorry Jog (onetime watch though)

Plot:

Sanjay aka Sanju (Sundeep Kishan) is a guy-next-door who loses his job and borrows money from Vaddi Raja (Bobby Simha), a tough head who goes to any extent to recover his loans. After couple of months, Sanju couldn’t repay his loans and right on the day of the deadline when Sanju arranges for the money, he is unfortunately robbed. Meanwhile, Sanju has an elope plan with his fiancé Amulya aka Ammu (Anisha Ambrose) and keeps her waiting. Things get absolutely messed up with Sanju that police and Vaddi Raja hunt for him and he is in pursuit of his money and girl. How did Sanju’s bad time turn over and he survive this challenge forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Sundeep Kishan: This promising hero chose to keep his act simple and subtle going by the demand of the script. Of course he struck the right balance between being a commoner yet the hero of his story (but not the usual Telugu hero).

Anisha Ambrose: Be it Pawan Kalyan or Sundeep Kishan, all she got was a brief yet significantrole and she couldn’t leave her mark.

Bobby Simha: This super talented actor once again won hearts with his presence, performance and impeccable dubbing with the author backed role. TFI finally gets a star villain and hope he gets to entertain us more.

Brahmaji: He is an absolute entertainer in the film as SI Padmavathi. He and his selfie fervour will tickle you for sure.

The rest of the cast including Posani, Madhu, Surya, Sudharshan Reddy, Mahath Raghavendra, KasiViswanath& others were at their best.

Analysis:

Just like any other remake, the director has attempted to adapt the edgy Malayalam original to the Telugu nativity and sensibilities. Keeping aside comparisons with the original, Run remains to be decent attempt handicapped by sluggish narration, coerced songs and the lack of any key highlights.

If not for a strong antagonist and Brahmaji-KasiViswanath comedy, the film wouldn’t have been this engaging too. Any Telugu film set out to entertain the masses need to have certain enthralling highs in the narration and Run lacks exactly the same. This is a film that tries to tell that time is the ultimate herominimizing the ‘hero’ to a sheer victim and spectator in the plot.

So unlike the usual Telugu entertainers, Run eventually ends up being a moderate evening walk tickling you here and there.

Merits:

Performances of the lead cast especially Bobby Simha and except Anisha.
Comedy of Brahmaji, KasiViswanath & Posani
Story
Praveen Bezwada’s dialogue

De-merits:

Sluggish Narration
Lack of quintessential highs

Music:

This film has couple of songs that go unnoticed and by the way do not serve any purpose other than extending the run time. And the background score also wasn’t impactful.

Others:

Nothing special to mention

Verdict:

Being titled Run, the film simply jogs, walks and even crawls at times.Keeping aside the fact that this is a remake of Malayalam super hit Neram, Run turns out to be a one time watch film and nothing more!
