There is a notion among many especially the actresses who come from the north that the south audience prefers to see their leading ladies with flesh at the right places and size zero is a strict no-no. It may be right to an extent but not entirely.
In the last few years, Tollywood has opened up to girls who have picture perfect figures and adding to that, even the starlets are emerging with rippled tummies. The flat ab mania has picked up a lot among the actresses and they are looking deliciously hot.
Bollywood has been the inspiration for this. We had Mandira Bedi who was known for her abs and then came the dusky Bengali bombshell Bipasha Basu. In south it was the gracious beauty Nayanthara who showed those stiff abs and lately the sweet Punjabi Lassi Rakul Preet Singh is carrying that tradition forward.
