Legendary Carnatic Singer and musician Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is No more.
The 86yr old iconic musician breathed his last at his residence in Chennai a short while ago due to age related ailments. The entire world music fraternity is mourning the demise of Balamuralikrishna.
Mangalampalli is born in Sankaraguptam, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh on the 6th July 1930 and carrying his father’s (Pattabiramayya) legacy in music world, Balakrishna emerged to be the pride of our nation.
He is the recipient of India’s second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan along with Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and also the distinguished honour of ‘Chevalier Of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ from the French government in 2005. He composed over 400 compositions in various languages including Telugu, Sanskrit, Kannada & Tamil. He made his debut into films with Bhaktha Prahlada movie in 1976.
