We are currently going through a phase of biopics and what started as a trend in Bollywood has now spread to Tollywood as well. However, the interesting thing to note is, the biopics being made in Tollywood have got more to do with historical and period eras.
Recently we saw the historical opus Gautamiputra Satakarni based on the warrior king. Now, there is news making rounds that the intellectual director Krish would be coming up with a biopic on the legendary King Srikrishna Devaraya. However, our sources say it is just a rumour.
While the news may not be true the idea of doing a biopic on the great king would be exciting. In the past, the great N T Rama Rao was seen as Sri Krishnadevaraya in the movie Mahamantri Timmarasu and later on, Nandamuri Balakrishna was seen in the same role in the movie Aditya 369. But both the movies revolved around the poets and the courtiers. It would be nice to see a movie on the King’s life so let us hope someone takes the initiative.
