Though it is somewhat relieving to see Tollywood break the shackles of routine template movies and attempting to come out of that, it is also true that the herd mentality is yet to be gotten rid of. It has been noticed that whenever a story of a particular genre works, people line up making movies on similar storylines and genre.

Lately, it is being noticed that political dramas are picking up in Tollywood. The trend began with the success of the movie ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’ featuring the towering hunk Daggubati Rana. Now, movies are coming up with titles such as ‘Nene Mukhyamantri’ ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ wherein the protagonist is seen as the Chief Minister.

Point is, if an overdose of political dramas comes in, the audience will lose interest to watch them. One or two movies is okay but more than that people would get bored. Of course, it also matters what type of content you are offering and what is the branding quotient. Yet, the political drama genre seems to be getting overused for now.
