After coming up with a series of hits and setting a trend in the industry there is always a risk of becoming complacent or sometimes becoming overconfident that whatever we make will be accepted by the audience. This is a gross fundamental blunder many directors do because the taste of the audience keeps changing.
Only those filmmakers who adapt themselves to the taste of the audience and offer what appeals to them can survive in the long run. There was a time when speed director Puri Jagannadh had such a following that his movie ran on his brand. Cut to the present, his movies fail to evoke any interest or excitement.
One of the main reasons for that is Puri taking it easy on the script and content. Barring ‘Temper’ which worked majorly due to the stamina of young tiger Junior NTR, most of Puri’s movies in the recent past have bombed miserably. Well wishers of Puri are now saying he needs to wake up and refresh his creative juices instead of living in his past.
