We are currently experiencing a season of biopics right from the big Bollywood to the Southern Cinema. Most of the biopics are getting very good response and this is encouraging many filmmakers to come up with more projects in this genre. However, there is a legal tangle involved and this might affect one promising biopic.
It is known that the hotshot director Rajkumar Hirani is preparing to arrive with the biopic on the deadly Sanjay Dutt. Few experts are saying this could have an issue because it falls under the appropriation of a personality. As part of the Personality Rights clauses, a biopic should not be taken when the person is alive.
Alternatively, if anyone wants to create a problem, they can filed a case at the High Court and shooting will be stopped immediately. However, few intellectuals are quashing this clause citing filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani are already aware of such things and they also have a counter ready to scuttle such issues.
