The legendary playback singer of our times SP Balasubramaniam's mother Shakuntalamma (89) passed away early this morning around 7 AM. From last few days, she was reportedly suffering from ill-health. After learning about the news, few film personalities have expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

Since SP Balasubramaniam is in London for an event now, he is expected to arrive in India by tomorrow morning. The funeral of SPB's mother will be held at their home town, Nellore, on Tuesday. The 72-year old Balasubramaniam is the most loved Telugu playback singer and he's recorded over 40,000 songs in his career spanning 50+ years.

He won National awards, state awards, Filmfare and even received civilian awards like Padmasri and Padma Bhushan from the government of India for his phenomenal work.
