Rajinikanth and Murugadoss have teamed up for the very first time to make a film and it is none other than Darbar, which is slated for release on January 9. At the pre-release event that happened in Hyderabad recently, the team of the film has been present and director looked super confident about bagging a hit. The film is made under a huge budget and is being released in three different languages.

He said, "My greetings to Superstar Rajinikanth sir's fans.  'Darbar' is a very important film for me.  After doing 13 films, I got the opportunity to work with the Superstar.  This is also my first cop story.  This is a pan-Indian film that needed the right sort of production house.  Lyca Productions' Subaskaran sir is a hero in real life.  In the future, his life story might be made as a biopic.  As for the film's cast, I thank Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas and others.  Yogi Babu's comedy is cool. Suneil Shetty sir has played a strong role as the antagonist.”
