We have already seen that stars like Vijay and Dhanush got denied exemptions from income taxes for their luxury posessions. Now, another star actor joined the list and it is none other than Suriya. Suriya has made it into headlines as the income tax department had conducted raid on his properties in 2010 for the financial years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

Then, he was ordered to pay the tax amount of Rs 3 crore 11 lakh 96 thousand rupees. On this note, Suriya approached the High Court in 2018 seeking income tax exemption claiming that he is a regular taxpayer and he has the right to seek the exemption. Now the case is up for hearing and judge M. Subramaniam has dismissed Suriya's petition. Madras High Court has dismissed the petition filed by Suriya to refund the additional interest.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department stated that Suriya did not fully cooperate with the income tax assessment process. Reportedly, Suriya is again planning to file an appeal to get that interest refund of Rs 56 lakhs. On the film front, Suriya is busy with his upcoming Tamil projects directed by Jai Bhim, MN, Gnanavel and Pandiraj produced by Sun Pictures.
