The successful film Kantara, a mystical folklore drama directed by Sandalwood actor Rishab Shetty, had a huge success with a budget of around 16 crore, grossing over 400 crore. After the film's massive success, the makers announced plans for a second installment in the franchise.
In a recent interview, producer Vijay Kirgandur, who was behind the production of KGF and Kantara, revealed that the second film will not be a sequel to Kantara, but a prequel instead.
He also mentioned that the scripting, planning, and logistics for the first schedule of the film are underway, and the shooting is set to begin in June, as director Rishab Shetty has planned for some crucial sequences to be shot in the rain. The movie is expected to be released in April next year.
