Shankar and Ilayaraja – these are two big names which we wish to see creating wonders on the silver screen. But these two stalwarts are in the news for all the wrong reasons.
It is already reported the Ilayaraja has issued a legal notice to Shankar regarding remixing his old composition Ooru Vittu Ooru Vandhu song (that was originally composed for the movie Karagaattakkaaran) in the recently released film Kappal (produced by Shankar) without his (Ilayaraja) permission.
Going into the details, Shankar (as the producer of Kappal) has made an agreement with Agi Music Pvt Ltd to get the prior license to use the song. The Madras High Court has already passed an interim injection curbing Agi Music Pvt Ltd to use any of Ilayaraja’s works.
However, neither Shankar nor the director of Kappal has responded to the legal notice. In case of any further delay, there are bright chances of this issue turning into a serious legal pain in the neck for Shankar. And with a name like Ilayaraja on the other end, no one wants any trouble. Anyhow, Shankar is a smart man and he knows what needs to be done right now!
