'Trendy and Peppy'- Akhil Audio Review

Akhil is an upcoming entertainer starring the Akkineni Hero Akhil for the first time in a full length hero role. Veteran Bollywood star Dilip Kumar’s grand niece Sayesha Saigal is the female lead opposite the charming hero. Music for the film is composed by S.S.Thaman and Anup Rubens. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The trendy album begins with Hey Akhil- a contemporary style track sung by the talented Rahul Pandey. The Anup Rubens style of composing is clearly evident in the orchestration, thump and peculiar chorus usage. The layers of sequencing are done quite well and have resemblance with the song “Pareshanayya” by A.R.Rahman in Shankar’s I.

It is now for a groovy melody Padesave composed by the high voltage music director Thaman. The Hip-Hop beats and cool sequencing paves the way for a breezy tune rendered by Karthik and M.M.Mansi. Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics have a tinge of folk flavor as well without compromising on the style element.

Here arrives the inevitable mass track Akkineni Akkineni which is penned effectively by Krishna Chaitanya. Divya Kumar, Bhargavi and Uma Neha have peppy voices which suit the theme of the song quite effectively. The interludes are laced with feisty trumpets, chorus and modern riffs.

Nenekkadunte (Energy) is an out and out dance number with acid guitars, racy rhythm and the apt vocals of Ranjith. Krishna Chaitanya’s lyrics speak of the hero on a high note and optimism. The track has Anup’s flavor of modernity and peppiness throughout its progress.

The album strikes the finale in a laid back manner with Zara Zara Navvaradhe penned brilliantly by Bhaskarabhatla. Anup Rubens renders this song quite effortlessly and the tune has an instant likability factor.  Interludes go with the right flow and get into the groove.

Verdict:

Akhil is a typical trendy album which offers a neat launch pad for the young Akkineni hero. However, with two composers in the belt, the songs could have had more experimentation and thump.
