Plot:

Rishi (Ashwin), an NRI comes down for his friend’s wedding to Vizag but eventually lands up in a drunken mess on the day of the wedding. His friend’s wedding gets cancelled but Rishi & his gang are haunted by Tejaswi aka Pinky (Tejaswi Madivada), the bride’s friend who teaches them a hard lesson. Not knowing each other, Rishi and Tejaswi meet up in a road trip to Hyderabad. While Rishi is leaving to US, Tejaswi is aboard to attend IAS interview in Hyderabad, a step away from fulfilling her father’s dream and her promise. Excited about travelling with a beautiful girl like Pinky, Rishi tries to woo her but in the course of the journey, a series of unexpected events reveal the true colors of Rishi & Pinky. How did Pinky fulfill her dream and how did the duo realize their love forms the rest of the plot.

Performances:

Nag Ashwin: He proved that he can be good entertainer with his second film itself. Though we can see shades of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan in his acting – now that is inevitable for this gen heroes…. Isn’t it?

Tejaswi Madivada: She is as usually cute with her traditional looks in the film and did a decent job as an actor as well.

While the roles of Shakala Shankar, Saptagiri, Snigda, Dhanush, Prithvi, Soorya needs a special mention. The rest of the gang did a decent job.

Analysis:

Of late no film could pull off without a significant dosage of comedy and it is indeed a must for a romantic comedy. Guess debutante director Rakesh Sashi knows this pretty well. He has deployed a huge comedian battalion in his romantic entertainer Jatha Kalise.

Knitting around a petty point, this love story has an engaging narration with some heavy dosage of comedy especially in the first half that ends on an interesting note. But as you turn up curiously after a quick intermission, the narration in the second half slips off the track and eventually gets lost in the woods. Gradually, a hopeless grim conquers your vibrant face and pathos kind of taking charge. Well, the climax needs to have a hasty and convenient happy ending… isn’t it? So here you have!

The smart storyteller who needs to ideally blend his heartwarming love story with situational comedy fails to get a homogenous mix of both in his film. His love story has no ‘love’ (forget about emotional connect and heart-tugging elements).

Merits:
Comedy quotient in the film, especially first half.
Performances of the Comedy gang.
Engaging narration in the first half.
Decent music and cinematography.

De-merits:
The dreary second half with a bland content and clueless narration.

Music:

Songs by Sai Kartheek are groovy suiting the needs of the story but the background score wasn’t impactful expect for a scene or two.

Others:

Nothing significant.

Verdict:

Jatha Kalise is just a time pass film that you may not mind watching once (that too for the first half) – just sit, laugh and leave! [Elements like love, feel, intensity, take-back factor etc are strictly prohibited here]
