Five Epic Historic Characters Which Only Balakrishna Could Adorn!

Nandamuri Balakrishna- this name speaks of aggression, power and amazing prowess to perform any role to perfection. He has had many mass oriented films in his career which involved him to deliver punch lines. But there is another sensitive dimension to Balayya which led him to do experiments in historic roles and also made him take the big step of acting as Gautamiputra Satakarni as his prestigious 100th film. Balakrishna has this amazing admiration and love for historic and art oriented films and he inherited this quality from his legendary Dad Sr NTR.  His natural talent for delivering any mythological dialogue at ease became an added advantage.

On the eve of his birthday, iQlikmovies looks at the top 5 memorable historic roles adorned by Balayya in his career till date.

1.Saleem in Akbar Saleem Anarkali: The talented senior hero ANR already scored a hit by acting as Saleem in Anarkali. The film was considered to be one of the biggest hits in the hero’s career but Sr NTR wanted Balakrishna to act in such challenging role- that too at a young age! Instead of imitating ANR’s histrionics for the role, Balakrishna breathed fresh air with his innocent looks, perfect dialogue delivery and proved that he was a indeed a hidden talent. Interestingly, the film was directed by his Dad Sr NTR himself! The song Sipayi- became an all time hit in Balakrishna’s career.

2.Sayyad/Siddayya in Srimadvirat Veerabrahmendra Swami Charitra: Balakrishna had the fortune of acting in challenging historic roles right from a young age- thanks to his Dad’s encouragement and support. This dedicated role of Sayyad as the follower of Veerabrahmendra Swami earned much appreciation and adoration from all sections of audience.

3.Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya in Aditya 369: Making a time travel related film in 1991 itself was a greatest adventure and Balakrishna decided to act as Sri Krishnadevaraya and made everyone’s eyes pop with his decision! Sr NTR already standardized the role’s brilliance by acting as the emperor in Tenali Ramakrishna and Mahamantri Timmarusu but Balakrishna did complete justice to the role with his supreme energy levels. His role has all the emotions ranging from compassion, love, duty, anger and responsibility!

4.Lord Krishna/Arjuna in Sri Krishanrjuna Vijayam: During the 90s era where family sentiment and mass films were on the demand, Balakrishna teamed up with his favorite filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao to act in a dual mythological role for this film. While as Arjuna, Balakrishna showed warrior skills and prowess, he was quite mellowed and reminded his Dad’s portrayal as Lord Krishna!

5.Lord Rama in Sri Rama Rajyam: After ruling the Box Office with a mass masala entertainer like Simha, Balakrishna decided it was time to polish his mythological acting skills by associating with legendary director Bapu for Sri Rama Rajyam- a remake of the eternal classic Lava Kusa. Balakrishna indeed did a greatest challenge by accepting this role which has a sensitive side- especially when fans adore him for his macho and aggressive lines. His performance when he is estranged with Sita became one of the most fetching points in this film.
