SIMHA to Replace NANDI?

The state bifurcation into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has led to lot of changes in the film industry and many new studios are being set up in the new state AP as well.

However, Tollywood has been cementing its base in Hyderabad itself and at the same time focusing on AP markets. It is a
well known fact that the AP Government awards for films and small screen were called Nandi awards and it is considered to be a prestigious honor.

Now, the name for Telangana government film awards has been chosen as Simha instead of Nandi. A special committee headed by Ex IAS K V Ramana Chary proposed this name and it will be forwarded to cinematography minister T Srinivas Yadav & CM KCR for the final decision.

The committee apparently felt that Simha would be an ideal symbol for the awards because it symbolizes strength and aggression. Looks like Telangana Government is ahead in innovation and planning for new ideas and creativity!
