Actor Vishwak Sen, who gained admirable stardom with films like Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, Falaknuma Das, and HIT, has now come up with his new outing Paagal. This is probably the biggest release after the second lockdown. Paagal has hit the screens today and here is the review of it.

Story:
Prem (Vishwak Sen) loses his mother (Bhumika Chawla) in his childhood. Since then, he decides to love a girl who takes care of him like a mother. In the process, he proposes 1600 girls and every one of them rejects him. Finally, when he attempts suicide, Teera (Nivetha Pethuraj) proposes to him. How does an already engaged Teera fall in love with Prem? What twists and turns happened in their love story? forms the main crux of the movie.

Performances:
Vishwak Sen does this role with ease. It is the first time we are seeing him in a commercial lover boy role and he did complete justice to it. But his physique looks inadequate in most of the scenes. It is better if he maintains a constant physique throughout every film. Nivetha Pethuraj has very little to do in the film and she was good. Simran Choudhary and Megha Lekha didn't have anything important to perform in the movie. Rest others were okay.

Technical Aspects:
Director Naresh penned his story with a lot of gags but none of them worked out on the screen. We have been seeing this kind of narrative for ages and it is high time for the filmmakers to stop attempting tested formulae. DOP Manikandan's visuals look beautiful. Radhan's music is decent and a couple of songs were well-picturized as well. The background score by Leon James is good. Production values are great but the editing is patchy.

Verdict:
Paagal seems to be a unique film but it is not. None of the comedy tracks work well with the viewers. Hero's journey from Hyderabad-Vizag-Hyderabad, gay comedy, and even mother sentiment fails to impress us at any point. The first half is filled up to establish the hero's character and it looks like the main story begins in the second half. However, the second half turns out to be pale as well. Only a few scenes between Vishwak Sen and Nivetha Pethuraj worked well. On the whole, Paagal is a routine fare that has nothing new to offer.

Plus Points:
- Vishwak's performance
- A couple of songs

Minus Points:
- Poorly written scenes
- Age-old screenplay
- Lethargic second half

Final Verdict: Makes the viewers 'Paagal'
