In the last few years the market stamina of Tollywood has increased exponentially and taking cue from that the makers are coming up with big budget flicks with an intent to recover them. Normally the festive season is considered the apt time to make such a recovery and the same happened for this Sankranthi.
According to reports, the tinsel town folks were targeting 100 crores from the market because they pinned their hopes largely on Agnyaathavasi followed by Jai Simha. However, while the first turned out to be a colossal disaster, the second is just dragging along and is yet to reach the safe zone.
The only consolation in the festival time is the dubbed movie Gang featuring the supremely talented Suriya and it is going steady. From the older releases MCA is also doing its bit. Overall, Tollywood has failed miserably in achieving the 100 crores target so the deficit is quite huge. Only the summer releases can make up for it now.
