One might not believe in re-birth or doesn’t agree with the concept of reincarnation, but the Telugu Film Industry seems to have a lot of faith in re-birth. Re-birth stories have always been a point of interest right from the beginning. A person dying is quite normal, but will he find a way back to be re-born? If he does, can he remember his past? Is it possible for him to recognize people from his last birth? All these questions are left unanswered by the theories of science, but Tollywood definitely proved them all to be true. There had been a number of films based on the concept of re-birth and songs like Ennenno Janmala Bandham Needi Naadi, Eenati Ee Bandham Enatido were huge hits too. We loved the films and the songs and everything about them. Hence, Tollywood continues to produce films based on the same concept of re-incarnation that repeated itself through the decades. IQlik Movies brings to you the details of all such films starting with Mooga Manasulu.

This film strengthened the belief that re-birth is a strong hook for Telugu Cinema. The film was a huge success which is a triangle love story between a boatman Gopi, a rich girl Radhamma and Gauri, respectively played by ANR, Savithri and Jamuna. The story takes the audiences through two different lives of the protagonist and also makes them wonder about re-births. Such was the influence of the film, which is a collective hard work of eminent film personalities like Athreya, Mullapudi, Adurthi Subba Rao and KV. Mahadevan. The film was well received in Bollywood too, remade as Milan. But, in Tamil Savithri produced the remake under her own direction called Praptam and bagged an utter failure.
If two people in lovefail to be together in the previous life, they reincarnate to find love again. Many films were based on this storyline like Bangaru Bommalu, Janaki Ramudu etc. The craze for this subject was such that the blockbuster movie Devadasu was tweaked accordingly and made again as Devadasu Malli Puttadu. The film has Devadasu and Chandramaukhi born again and Parvathi recognizes Devadasu, the love of her life from the previous birth.
Not just the genre of love, but many films were made falling under the genres of revenge, sacrifice and battle. Films like Arundhati, Magadheera, Eega created amazing records at the box-office proving once again that re-birth is an evergreen subject. Though few argue and criticize this concept that has no logical explaining to do, our directors have succeeded in making us believe or at least to watch their films on the silver screen. With gripping story, screenplay, music, graphics and performances these films recreated the image of many celebrities in the industry.

Also, many mythological films were made based on this concept, with the protagonist finding his destiny that he failed to pursue in his last birth. Even Janapadam films were not an exception.
Hence proved, the bottom-line of the story Re-birth is an all-time favorite subject for our directors and us as well. Not only in Tollywood, but even in Bollywood and for that matter Hollywood it’s not an exaggeration to say that re-birth is a genre by itself.
